In this site you will see a number of chapters showing how easy the Rooter Pot is to use.

how to use rooter-pot?

To open we must pres the pivots so the pot can embrace the branch ...for our new plant we'll chose the best vertical stem... Sometimes we will need to tie the layer or mother branch in a vertical position

... before placing our rooter-pot we'll make a circle-cut and peel the bark, in order to facilitate the new roots emerging ...

...and now we close the rooter pot filling and pressing the soil into place...

... and we pour in water to fill the water reservoirs and to press the soil closely to the branch. The water will go up by capillary force, moisturizing with same degree all the time. You only need to check the water level every 20 days...Don't over wet the soil of course

... now you must place the conical pot-lid, which centers the branch. It avoids evap -oration which in any case  condensates under lid and funnels back to the soil.

Rooter pot increases the inside temperature several degrees due since it is almost hermetically sealed construction ...

... we must then wait 2-4 months, depending on the variety of plant and the local climate ...

...however we can open the Rooter Pot carefully in order to check the progress of the growing roots ...

... and if you are careful with your attention, success is almost always assured...

... and we'll obtain a nice example of a tree or shrub. Now we cut it from the mother plant and her nursery. the rooter pot ...

...to be placed in a big pot or final planting. It may now require pruning to balance the aerial and root parts.

First choose the tree, shrub or plant that you wish to take a layer from. Species that can be Rooterpotted include, Populus, Rosa Canina, Olea Europea, Ceratinia Siliqua, Nerun Oleander, Laurus Nobilis, Azalea Indica, Prunus Dulcis, Ficus, Hibiscus, Magnolia, Platanus, Rhododendron, Ginkgo. Ilex, Castanea Sativa, Camelia, Gardenia Jasmin, Pistacea Lentiscus, Myrtus Communis, Ulmus, Zelkova, Acer, Betula, Cryptomeria, Escalonia, Pyracantha, Juniperus, etc etc. All of these and many more have been successfully propagated by Craig Coussins. These are all perfect clones of the mother plant and have rooted within two to three months from the parent stock.

This is the way to obtain a mature tree or shrub in ONE season.
